A set of holiday cards that celebrate non-profit organizations that are creating a better community.
Our 15th Community Project was created to share and celebrate a few (of many!) organizations doing inspiring community work. We’ve had the privilege in 2022 to meet and work alongside amazing people leading non-profit organizations that are creating a better community.
Celebrating our Community
The Community Company has evolved and grown so much since our first holiday card project in November 2018. We say it every year, but we’re truly thankful for our supporters, our customers, and our charity partners for helping us get here to Year 4.
While a lot has changed over the past years (new partnerships, new projects, new offerings), the one thing that has remained consistent is your support and belief in our vision.
Our annual holiday card project evolves every year to help us articulate what it means to build effective community. This year, we designed our project as our thank you and celebration to the non-profits that we’ve met along the way.

Representing our Community
This year, we wanted to use our holiday card project to reflect the inspiring work happening in our community and to capture what makes a community great.
To do this, we identified four non-profits uniquely building community in their own way, but with the common goal of making our community better. Each holiday card design was inspired by their values and their beliefs.
Additionally, we are setting aside 200 holiday cards to share for free through our partner network of charities and nonprofits to ensure everyone has access to our cards.

Building Sustainable Community
For every holiday card that you purchase, about 40% will cover the cost of the card, 20% will cover our holiday card donations, and 40% will go directly to the non-profits that we’ve featured through this project.
All four non-profits we’ve spotlighted are actively building a social enterprise, which is a sustainable revenue stream to offset the decline in traditional fundraising. Profits will go directly to building their dream social enterprise.
Finally, The Community Company is a Certified B Corporation, one of only 409 in Canada. When you support a B Corp, you can trust that you’re supporting a business designed for social good.
Our Four Holiday Cards
Every card is professionally printed and designed locally. All proceeds are shared with non-profits building community.
Apartment Holiday Card
Bring on the Sunshine is a local non-profit building community and bringing people together to celebrate and support people of African descent in Canada. This card’s design was inspired by Bring on the Sunshine’s vision of a shared community space.
The design itself represents our community and the uniqueness that everyone brings to the table. We chose an apartment setting to showcase nine unique holiday perspectives, from the celebrators, to the musicians, to the people who choose to spend the holidays reading and reflecting.
Profits from the holiday cards will support Bring on the Sunshine’s social enterprise research work in 2023.
Snowglobe Holiday Card
Cambridge Shelter is a local charity that is providing safe shelter and programming to those experiencing homelessness. This card’s design was inspired by the idea of neighbours offering support to other neighbours, and the relationships that it can build.
The design itself features a group of people helping a neighbour set up and prepare for the holidays. At Cambridge Shelter, residents are often seen sweeping by the front entrance, picking up litter around the premises, and volunteering where they can.
Profits from the holiday cards will support Cambridge Shelter’s social enterprise, which is launching in 2023.
Feast Christmas Card
Hope House is a local charity that’s addressing poverty and food insecurity through community and relationships. This card’s design was inspired by the idea of a community feast and bringing people together to build relationships over a meal.
The design itself features a collection of ingredients grown on the Hope House farm, which grows 15,000 pounds of produce for their community food market. It also features a lasagna dish prepared by The Better Food Company, Hope House’s social enterprise.
Profits from the holiday cards will support the growth of The Better Food Company.
Christmas Tree Card
Wisahkotewinowak is a local non-profit strengthening Indigenous land-based relationships within urban spaces along the Grand River Territory. This card’s design was inspired by the idea of building community and relationships with all living beings, from plants, to animals, to humans.
The design itself celebrates the interconnections within our community between all life, which was playfully illustrated by a person supporting a racoon to put up a holiday ornament on a spruce tree.
Profits from the holiday cards will support Wisahkotewinowak’s social enterprise research work in 2023.
Local Dropoffs in Waterloo Region & Guelph
Starting December 10th, we will be offering weekly local dropoffs in the Waterloo Region and Guelph to ensure that you receive your cards in time for the holidays.
At checkout, if your postal code falls within those regions, a local dropoff will automatically show up during your shipping selection and you can have the option to have your package hand delivered by someone on our team.

About the Cards:
The premium 5x7 inch holiday cards were designed by a local artist and professionally printed on heavy cardstock with a beautiful gloss finish. Every holiday card also includes a festive card envelope.
Community:
For every holiday card that you purchase, about 40% will cover the cost of the card, 20% will cover our artist and our holiday card donations, and 40% will go directly to the non-profits.
