2023 has been a tremendous year of growth for The Community Company and we’ve had to put all of our energy into new social enterprise projects like In our Backyard. We anticipate resuming this important project in 2024. For those still looking to buy new holiday cards, we’ve put all of our individual holiday cards on sale!

This fund is designed for community members who want to see their donation dollars go further and who value sustainable outcomes.

The Community Company partners with our community’s most inspiring charities to create sustainable solutions. We believe in systems change work and we see donations as a social investment opportunity.
We currently have a waitlist of qualified charities that have management and board approval to launch a vision-aligned social enterprise, but they lack the startup funding to do so.

2022 Holiday Card Set

About the Cards:
The premium 5x7 inch holiday cards have a gloss finish and were designed by a local artist and professionally printed. Every holiday card also includes a festive card envelope.
Community:
For every holiday card that you purchase, about 40% will cover the cost of the card, 20% will cover our artist and our holiday card donations, and 40% will go directly to the nonprofits.
Social Benefit:
Additionally, we will be offering 200 of our holiday cards for free at Hope House’s affordable gift market in Guelph to ensure everyone in our community has access to our cards.

About the Cards:
The premium 4x5.5 inch postcards have a gloss finish and were professional designed and printed. Every postcard also includes a vintage-themed envelope.
About the Creators:
We partnered with J.O.E., a Guelph-based charity based focused on innovative, community-based employment and job-training. Our postcards were co-designed with Maya Masengi, a Waterloo-based artist to help Creators bring their postcard vision to life!

The Community Company is a social enterprise that strongly believes in Linked Prosperity, meaning that as our business grows, our partners should benefit and grow alongside us.
Our four Creators for the Reconnecting Ontario project were paid $50 for their time, and earn 5%-12% from every postcard sale.

We support local. Our tote bags were screenprinted in the Waterloo Region by a living wage employer and our labels were sewn on by a lovely seamstress in Guelph.

Our three Creators for The Healing Project were paid $50 for their time, and earn 5%-12% from every sale. Additionally, 10% of all revenue will be donated to our two charity partners on this project: Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis and Sexual Assault and Support Centre Waterloo Region.

Every Creator is paid for their time for co-designing the holiday cards. Additionally, Creators earn profits per sale, split equally among all five Creators.
Social Benefit:
In addition to the profit share to our Creators, every card purchased will cover the cost of three Holiday Postcards delivered to our community members through J.O.E.’s Postcard Project.
The Period Project
Ensuring access to menstrual products and normalizing periods through our Period T-Shirts.

About the shirt:
All 3 of our designs are bold and eye-catching. Our logos were hand-drawn and embroidered onto our shirts for that extra touch of elegance and style.
Our straight fit shirts (unisex) are manufactured by Bella + Canvas, a company that is platinum WRAP certified, meaning they have the highest standards for employee ethics in production.
Lastly, our shirts are really soft. We went the extra mile every step of the way because we want this to be one of your favourite t-shirts ever.
Social Benefit:
Proceeds from every T-Shirt sold will help distribute Period Packs to students and families who need it most, through our partnership with grassroots organizations in our community like Nutrition for Learning.
Youth Addiction Project
Our Addictions Sweater was created by two teenagers overcoming their addiction at Portage Ontario, a drug rehabilitation centre for youth.

About the sweater:
We partnered with two teenagers from Portage Ontario, a live-in rehabilitation centre for youth ages 14-18, to design a Crewneck Sweater that is both meaningful and personal to their journeys with substance addictions.
The sweaters are 100% Combed Ring Spun (meaning they feel incredibly soft), ethically manufactured by Just Like Hero, and embroidered locally in Waterloo, Ontario. The sweaters are perfect for a weekend outfit, and can also be stylized to suit almost any social occasion.
The fit is unisex, and we recommend ordering a size smaller if you are stuck between two sizes! Sizing chart can be found here.
Creators:
Tobias and Benjamin are the two youth creators behind this sweater. The design is a reminder to our community that ‘Addicts are People too’.
Social Benefit:
Creators are typically paid $50 for their time, earn 5%-12% from every sale, and 50% of net profits.
Since our two Creators are currently living in rehab at Portage Ontario, their portions of the profit share will instead be donated to Portage for use as a leadership fund for their entire community.
